  • 5 years behind?

I just recently got back into K-dramas since we now have the Korean channel here in Hilo. Thank God. People weren't kidding when they said Hilo is 5 years behind. So true.

Ironically, I had an iPod before it blew up in the mainstream (thanks to my Mac addiction), so I'm not totally behind. BTW, that iPod is a blessing. It makes working out so much less painful. Thank you Steve Jobs.

I've realized I don't like myspace anymore. I don't know. It's just so... contrived. I suppose it's great to keep in touch with people, but right now, I need something more substantial. Maybe coming back to Xanga is a start.

BTW, is it me or is everyone on xanga now under the age of 18? I checked out my "metro" and there are 9 year olds on this thing. That's so disturbing on so many levels.

  • Vegging Out

It's a nice, rainy day here in Hilo. I lit some candles, DMB is on, and I'm sitting on my brand new teak bench out on the lanai, blogging it up. Don't you just love rainy days?

Simon is driving me crazy and so is my husband. Just kidding.

  • anemia sucks...

the living daylights out of you. of course, I'm probably self-diagnosing myself and it's been awhile since I've actually been anemic, but the signs are back, particularly the fatigue and the bruising. i don't mind the bruising, but the fatigue is bad. ended up exercising this morning, but have been dragging all day. took a 3 hour nap and decided to go walking around the block, but could only muster up the energy to go around one time. i'm going to bed early to get up and exercise again tomorrow morning since exercising in the evening will be impossible with the smoke and fireworks. or i could do pilates indoors instead... hmm.

  • misery loves company

why is it that during some times in your life, one part of your life seems to be clicking and on the right track while another part of your life is a total wreck? you know, bad timing is the story of my life. it feels like life's sick way of reminding you of the stupid, wreckless mistakes you've made and showing you what you could have had had you not chosen your current path? this f'n sucks.

oh, and one word of advice: never cave and do things because people impose their own little notions of happiness on you just because they want you to join their sick, sad existence. the truth is, they're f'n miserable and they want you to be miserable with them. when they're convincing you to do something and in the same breath, cursing their own choices and lives about the same subject, you know they're content to screw you over and revel in your weakness that they could actually pull off convincing you that being miserable is a good thing. the truth is, you're going to have to live with that decision, not them and believe me when i say that when the shit hits the fan, those same people who were there convincing you to screw up your life won't be there to listen to you lament about everything that's going wrong. suddenly, they have not time to hear about it and you're left to pick up the pieces of a decision that was yours to make in the first place if you just had the "balls" to tell those people to shut the hell up and keep their f'n preconceived notions about happiness and how it relates to your well-being to themselves.

before you know it, you're spouting off on your blog and your poor readers are sitting there scratching their heads, wondering what the hell happened and why the bitter tirade?

p.s. check out yamanet48's sweet apartment. btw, love the kitchen! *wink*

  • allergies suck. i can't stop sneezing and blowing my nose. it bites. maybe i should just get off my lame ass and work out or something...

May 28, 2005

  • i'm bored. it's 5-ish and i just finished dinner. sad, huh? i called my grandma and she just finished eating dinner too. she said she's going to bed at 6:30. that sounds like a good idea, but i've resolved to have a nice long work out once my food settles a bit. i bought a much-needed pair of running shoes last night. the two pairs of running shoes i alternate between both have 500 miles on them. do ya wanna see my new shoe? aren't they beautiful? *sigh* yes, girly looking, but beautiful nonetheless.

it's been forever since i've updated. nothing new on this end, other than trying to stay motivated to work out, keeping busy at work, and trying to keep the house clean since the cat seems hell-bent on shedding all of his fur everywhere. have seriously considered shaving him bald this summer, with it being hot and all. actually this weekend would be the time to do it since the hubby is out of town...

oh, i'm thinking of painting the walls in my house. i haven't posted pics of my house for a long time, so here are two. okay, here's a pic of my favorite place in the house, the kitchen. it's amazing how much more you enjoy cooking when you're in a kitchen you like. also, the food tastes so much better...

this is a pic of the living room i'm thinking of painting light brown.

fyi, i never turn on that gargantuan tv, ever. well, i take that back. i turned it on for the first time in a week in a half to watch "il postino" and "saving grace". the first movie received international acclaim. the second, lesser-known movie was about a widow trying to dig herself out of the debt left by her husband. since she had a green thumb, she decided to propogate marijuana and attempted to sell it so she could settle up what she owed. pretty funny stuff.

anyway, back to the tv... i really don't know what's currently going on in the world. seriously. i haven't picked up a newspaper or tuned in to the local and national news for a very long time and you know what? ignorance is bliss. with american news being oversensationalized and the blackout on the current genocide in Africa sans any American attempt to stop it, watching the news is just not worth the time and grief. it's no wonder americans have the bad rap of being uncultured, self-centered ignorami. it's also impossible to be more globally-minded when we're bombarded with the message that we are the center of the universe, what i like to call americentrism, with the news fueling that sentiment. besides, who the hell gives a damn about what Paris Hilton said this week?

  • i was bored with my xanga so i decided to add a skin. i like the new skin, but i'm still too lazy to write a substantial entry, thus defeating the purpose of having a blog in the first place. hmm.

hope all is well with all of you out there in xangaland!!

  • long weekend, here i come!

thankfully, it's a nice long weekend. it's sunday and there's one more day to go. hurray! let's see, what did i do? hmm...

friday night, i rented 4 movies after working out. i didn't even get through the first and ended up falling asleep. it was shark tale. not to say it wasn't a good movie, but i was beat.

saturday? went and got my hair trimmed (2 inches off the dead, split ends and 1 inch off the bangs that should have been dealt with a month ago). a little shopping. finished watching the movies (P.S. - good one, Shark Tale - cute, The Notebook - cry fest, Kiss the Bride - could have skipped it). worked out. went to dinner alone (i haven't been out to dinner by myself in awhile, so it was awkward at first, but turned out great). walked around wal-mart. rented another video. ended up sleeping without starting the other video.

today? doing laundry. cleaned the house a little. watched "the wedding planner" and will be starting bright young things in the next 15 minutes. may drive out to miloli'i with some friends to camp over tonight. who knows. i don't know if i want to burn out there in the sun with no shade, but we'll see.

it's a busy week. i'm flying out first flight to honolulu on tuesday for a meeting with the "feds" and will be there until thursday for meetings that last ALL DAY. definitely going to listen to the Ward Churchill talk at Manoa on Tuesday night. i have an important meeting on friday that will last from 11:30 to 4:30, so I need to take off after 4 hours of work.

i bought one of those exercise body balls that take forever to inflate with the foot pump they give you and tried it out this morning with a few crunches. if you don't have one already, it's definitely worth it, even if it's just for ab work. of course, i haven't tried the other exercises yet, but will let you all know once i figure it out. i'm worried though since the wondercat is still "with claw" and may decide to jump on it one of these days, just for the hell of it, and deflate it. *sigh*

oh, the wondercat has a girlfriend. when i was working out in the garage last night, i put him on his leash and didn't hear him for awhile, so i turned the corner to see him up close with a ginger tabby. the girlfriend ran away when she saw me and the wondercat was moody and growled at me since i interrupted his little rendezvous. of course, i had to call the hubby and my parents to tell them that simon is in love. now, if he's not outside on his leash, he's looking out the windows, searching for his "juliet".

sorry for the rambling. i have all these thoughts and can't seem to organize them in a way that isn't so... random. have a great weekend everyone!

  • Missing in Action

Hi everyone! GoodSugars asked me in my previous entry where I've been. Well, I've been using extra time I used to spend online writing in my blogs is now spent working out, which isn't a whole lot of time, but it's prevented me from keeping in touch with all of you wonderful people. :)

For those of you who haven't seen Simon the Wondercat, here's an update:

Hmm... oh! On February 9th, we went to Sin City because my husband needed to go to a convention. It was uneventful, being the total "old lady" that I am, I stuck to shopping and didn't sink a dime into gambling. It's just not my deal, so I ended up "exploring" on the city bus or walking. There's no humidity up there, so my hair was GORGEOUS, for once. We ended up watching a show and going to a couple buffets, but nothing too exciting. Here's a pic of the strip:

That's it for now... I hope all is well out there in XangaLand!!

  • i take it all back...

i take back everything i said about j-lo and not liking her. i haven't seen her last few movies and didn't buy her last 2 CD's, but since i started running again, some of her music that i have keeps me going. i'm not saying she's the best singer because we all know she's not, but that girl's got an ear for a good beat. it actually helped me get through today's workout. i ran for 60 minutes straight and could've gone on for another 30 minutes. plus, i did some circuit training afterwards with those awful-but-necessary crunches and push ups, but the mix helped me get through that too. of course, i mixed her songs up with gwen stefani, beyonce, kelis, britney, and kylie minogue, but she was in there with the rest of them. thanks j-lo! i'll never diss you again (in this blog).
