  • say it isn't so...

i can't believe brad pitt and jennifer aniston are splitting up. they were one of the few celebrity couples i thought would make it. then again, i thought the same about tom cruise and nicole kidman and look at what happened to them. the sad thing is that i was actually rooting for brad and jen to stay together, unlike britney and j-lo. actually, when brad hooked up with someone before meeting jen, i'd think, "no way is she even good enough for him," but when he hooked up with her, i didn't think it was all that bad, in fact i was happy. she was normal. actually, if you think about it, it must be extremely difficult to be so high-profile and maintain some degree of privacy and normalcy in a celebrity marriage. every move is under a microscope. marriage is already a difficult thing, but it must be a cake walk for a relative nobody like myself who doesn't have to deal with the issues of stardom. how awful.

  • i got this from one of my subscribers, suknao_sakura, who i need to thank for the christmas gift! i haven't opened it yet, unlike her "dad" who was already showing off his christmas gift! muchas gracias and merry christmas everyone!!

    1. WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING?
EVERYDAY at 5:00. I can't go back to sleep after 5 AND i can't sleep late on weekends. blech. i always say i'll catch up on all those hours when i'm dead.

    2. IF YOU COULD EAT LUNCH WITH ONE FAMOUS PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE?
the Dalai Lama or oprah. there are so few contemporary celebrities who are worthy of their fame. if i were to spend time with a famous person, i'd hope it would be educational, inspiring, and worth every second, but god knows whitney houston would make for an entertaining afternoon.

    3. GOLD OR SILVER?
White gold. somehow it doesn't seem like i answered the question.

    4. WHAT WAS THE LAST FILM YOU SAW AT THE CINEMA?
holy cow, this is embarrassing... Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? i know, i know, ages ago. I'm a DVD person. theatre movies are too darn expensive.

    5. FAVORITE TV SHOW?
crime and forensic dramas (monk, CSI, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Cold Case, American Justice, City Confidential, and Cold Case files) or hgtv.

    6. WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?
a grande no-whip coffee frappuccino from starbucks.

    7. WHAT WOULD YOU HATE TO BE LEFT IN A ROOM WITH?

    8. CAN YOU TOUCH YOUR NOSE WITH YOUR TONGUE?
    nope.

    9. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
finding the good and beauty in every living thing and humor that usually ends in laughter.

    10. WHAT'S YOUR MIDDLE NAME?
    kainoa

    11. BEACH, CITY, Or COUNTRY?
i've always been a small town girl, except for those few years i spent in the "big city". i grew up in a rural beach community so i'd say it's a toss up between beach and country.

    12. SUMMER OR WINTER?
winters, definitely. i hate being hot. that's sounds funny coming from a hawaiian, but honestly, i love cold weather and i love winter clothes, especially boots and scarves.

    13. FAVORITE ICE CREAM?
all time favorite? haagen daz's dulce de leche, but i haven't touched the stuff in years. that thing is a coronary in a pint.

    14. BUTTERED, PLAIN, OR SALTED POPCORN?
definitely buttered, but then again, the stuff they claim is "butter" at concession stands in movie theatres can't possibly be butter. i'm glad i'm not into popcorn.

    15. FAVORITE COLOR?
    light pink, brown, and black.

    16. FAVORITE CAR?
a mercedes. i don't know which model, but i'd like any one of them.

    17. FAVORITE SANDWICH FILLING?
solid white albacore tuna with a smidge of low-fat mayo.

    18. TRUE LOVE?
    i hope so.

    19. WHAT CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU DESPISE?
insensitive and rude people with no sense of humor

    puakenikeni, orchids, and pink anthuriums

    21. WHAT COLOR IS YOUR BATHROOM?
white with robin's egg blue and silver accents

andalucia in southern spain. talk about being immersed in a rich cultural community...

7 - car key, spare key for the other car, house key, 2 office keys, and 2 file cabinet keys

    24. CAN YOU JUGGLE? IF YES HOW MANY?
does juggling with 2 items constitute juggling?

    25. FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK:
it's a toss up: saturday because i like to explore the town and work on my photography; sunday because it's my reflection and focusing day.

    26. RED OR WHITE WINE?
neither. i'm not a wine or beer drinker. give me a frou-frou margarita or a brown cow anyday.

    27. WHAT DID YOU DO FOR YOUR LAST BIRTHDAY?
    go out to dinner.

    28. U CARRY A DONOR CARD?
yes. organ, blood, and bone marrow donor cards.

  • it's been awhile since i last logged on and entered an entry on xanga, but i hope that during my hiatus, everyone has been doing WONDERFULLY! work has been seriously kicking my ass, but it's all good. i've watched tons of movies since then, but mostly just concentrating on working. i haven't been doing any writing or taking any pictures, which is a bummer, but it's getting colder and rainier here in Hilo, which is always GREAT. don't you just love fall and winter? halloween is around the corner, but i still haven't put up the decorations. maybe that's what i'll concentrate on tomorrow, but first i have to find the decorations...
we have guests over this weekend, well they're actually my husbands best friends and hunting buddies from kaua'i, one of which, happens to be my cousin and he has been charged with bringing some stuff back for my mom, which means i will be spending tomorrow cleaning house, doing laundry, picking up stuff for him to bring home, decorating the house, and picking up halloween candy for the kiddies.
simon is doing well. he's now walking with his harness on a retractable leash. i'm still getting looks from the neighbors for walking our cat around on a leash, but simon's developed a following with the neighborhood kids. everytime we start walking around, they follow him and try to pet him. he weighs 15.5 pounds and can't fit his sweater or his aloha shirt anymore. geez. of course, he's got a buffet set up in the house. his bottomless food bowl is filled with kit and caboodle, he drinks milk 2 times a day, and he drinks fresh water from a tea cup in our master bathroom. after he's done, we put him out on his run in the front yard so he can check out his neighborhood hoochies. i know, i should be reported for "inhumane" treatment but he wouldn't have it any other way. he trots around and his cat belly swings side to side. the veterinarian said as long as we can still feel his ribs, he's okay. so we check often to see that we can still feel his ribs and we can... sort of. "he's not heavy, he's my tabby".
well that's it for now... i hope all is well and take it easy!

  • technology rears its ugly head

so i have a sony cyber-shot dsc-p92, 5.0 megapixel camera. i was happy with it. my pictures were clear and it was easy enough to use. i appeased my photography bug with my camera and used it on weekends on photography expeditions and during the weekdays to capture stupid stuff. well, our dear friend kept asking me what kind of camera i use because he is also into photography. then, he loaned me his Nikon D100. this Nikon is a cadillac compared to my Sony mazda hatchback wagon. now i'm searching for a Nikon D70, which is the latest model and from all reviews so far, better than the D100 and less expensive. Less expensive meaning it's going for about $1200. i need to think about that investment long and hard before i decide to buy one... grr... if i buy it for a business then i can write it off along with my new computer, but i don't know what to do about it... hmm...
